Absolutely rare The Hobbit Chess Set by Kevin O’Hare and Fellowship Foundry.

From 1978.

We believe this is the first ever licensed hobbit chess set.

The set is complete and comes with a silver colored Smaug! None of the previous sets that sold seemed to have him- only one copper colored Smaug.

The pieces measure anywhere from 1 5/8” (Sméagol) to 3.75” (Mt. Erebor).

The pieces are made of thick pewter.

Condition-

Condition varies by piece. These are almost 50 years old. Some of the soft metal areas has bent over time in some of the pieces- the spears of the goblins are all somewhat bent inwards, some of the metal has minor cracks (some deeper than others- please inspect pics) so I don’t want to try and bend them back for fear of breaking. The dark side’s copper paint has faded on some of the pieces over time.

The wings of the dark side Smaug and the eagles have slightly bent over time. Other than that the rest of the pieces appear to be in very good condition, with very minor age defects.
