Antique 19th century Norwegian butter box, porringer, or ambar, used for transporting butter or porridge on special celebrations.

Hallmarks: Front is signed "Minne Fraa Hallingdal" which loosely translates to "Souvenir from Hallingdal."

Dimensions: Height 5 1/2” x Width 6” x Depth 5 1/2”.

Weight: 7.2 oz.

Condition: Wear to paint with losses noticeable along the center bands. Handle or lid finial has broken off the lid. Staved wood has shrunk with age and there are gaps between the slats. Light soiling.
