What we have here is a vintage AIREX spinning reel, a Beachcomber Model 1, circa 1953 - 1956, made in the U.S.A. by the Lionel Corporation. Known as the earliest American made saltwater spinning reel!

The reel is in VG condition overall, a 7/8 on the ORCA reel rating score. The reel is  clean, lubricated and operates smoothly. It is spooled with premium mono.

It has a gear ratio of 3.9:1, with 250/15 mono line capacity, weighing approximately 15 oz. with the line. The reel features metal construction, adjustable front reel drag, full bail, medium/heavy class, anti-reverse, folding handle, and a black torpedo shaped handle knob that turns freely.

The reel can be used for fishing for a long time given proper care, or especially as a collectible.
