ANTIQUE TABLE

A nicely proportioned larger sized early antique light oak gateleg table. Unsure of exact date but I’d say c1810-1850, mabye earlier. The table has a rectangular shaped top when closed, with a drop leaf to either side. The drop leaves are supported by two gatelegs and form a larger oval shaped table top when extended. The oak gateleg table is raised on six shaped legs with straight stretcher supports. Wonderful patina throughout.

This has a washed out ‘folk arty’ primitive look to it, which I love and think is the main reason to buy this. The colour, patina and character make this table. This has clearly been loved and cherished over the years, there are lots of historic repairs. The table presents well and functions as it should there is however a fair bit of movement to the base but is perfectly useable ‘as is’

CONDITION overall for its age is good, there are of course the usual age related scratches and marks throughout. These older table always have some movement but this one has a fair amount of back and forth movement to base. Lots of historic worm throughout, long dead but fully treated as a precaution. Lots of historic repairs throughout.

SIZE (cm) 72 high x 129.5 deep x 49 wide x 163 wide when extended.

ABOUT:

•  I've been collecting & sourcing mid 20th century furniture for some years now & have sold in excess of 1000 pieces with 100% positive feedback so you can buy with confidence. The older pieces of furniture are better made, normally by craftsmen and not machines, have more character & if looked after will last many years.

I specialise in mainly mid 20th century furniture, particularly British made pieces, these represent excellent value for money compared to the mass produced pieces on the market. I also love much older pieces, if they are unusual, well made & a great design I will offer them for sale. I like to keep pieces as original as possible & will clean & re oil / wax. I convert some to 'Hairpin leg' pieces if they have no legs / ugly legs or missing legs.
