PARNS RPE (PARNS Relógio de Pulso Excepcional) - Turtle case Captain Willard Divers Watch with NH35a movement and sapphire glass.

 

Offered for sale here is a PARNS RPE (PARNS Relógio de Pulso Excepcional) Divers Watch. This excellent quality watch is based on a "Captain Willard" stainless steel case, popularly referred to as a “Turtle” case. A textured green dial with yellow indices is fitted, complimented by a green chapter ring and a green insert in the rotating elapsed time bezel. The arrow handset features a turtle logo counterbalance on the sweep second hand. This eyecatching look is completed with a green rubber "Waffle" strap, which is soft and comfortable to wear.

The watch is fitted with a Seiko 24 jewel NH35a automatic mechanical movement with date display. This is a thoroughly reliable, well-proven, accurate and robust movement, found in many brands of watch, not just Seikos. Just ask anyone who knows watches how good these movements are. My own everyday wearing watch isn’t a Seiko, but it has an NH35a movement - it is now over 6 years old and is still giving me excellent service. Look at it this way - the movement is the beating heart of a watch. You are effectively buying a Seiko watch at a fraction of the price, with the bonus that this is a much rarer watch.

The watch is self-winding - it is wound by the wearer's normal, everyday movement. It may also be wound manually if required and has a hacking facility - i.e. the second hand can be stopped to allow accurate setting of the time. When fully wound, it has approximately 40 hours power reserve and with normal everyday wear, the watch is wound automatically and should never need manual winding.

The case, back cover and winder crown are made from stainless steel. Both back cover and winder crown screw down and are sealed with "O" rings, thus ensuring the watch is waterproof.

The case is fitted with a sapphire glass, which is much more scratch resistant than the mineral glass often found on cheaper watches.
