Stunning Victorian sterling silver claret jug or wine ewer hallmarked Sheffield 1883 by quality silversmiths, James Dixon & Sons Ltd.

This claret jug is beautifully decorated in repousse style featuring a floral pattern creating four cartouches. The jug has been later engraved as a perpetual trophy for Norfolk pubs possibly as a prize for darts, dominoes or quoits. Each of the four cartouches has been profusely engraved with details of the trophy winners between 1951 & 2002. When there was no further room on the claret jug for any more engraving a hollow bakelite/plastic plinth was added with a silver plated band listing further trophy winners between 2002 & 2018 when presumably, the trophy was retired.

NOTE: Please look at the photos for the individual names & pub names who have won this trophy as previous winners or their relatives may wish to own this trophy as a memento!
