A very pretty Davenport of Longport true trio and matching side plate dating from circa 1830.

A ‘true’ trio means the original kind of trio, ie a tea cup and coffee cup with one saucer - tea and coffee would never be served together in those days, so only one saucer was required. It is now quite rare to find all four pieces surviving together.

With moulded rims, very ornate handles and decorated with hand-painted foliage in puce. Gilded rims.

Offered for sale in very good condition - it has the usual fine crazing, age staining and some wear to the gilding but no chips, cracks or restoration. Both cups ring true. Please remember that this set is approx. 200 years old, not 20th century ‘vintage’ china. This is a genuine antique, a collector’s item.

This set is #2 of two identical sets available.

Questions welcome. Will be very well packed.
