I have here for sale a book entitled THE OLD ROAD by H. Belloc, illustrated by William Hyde and published by Constable and Company, London, 1910. With 17 black & white plates, a foldout map at the back, and multiple intext illustrations. Split into 3 sections, On The Road And The Fascination of Antiquity, The Theory Of The Old Road, and The Exploration Of The Road, which discusses Winchester - Alton - Shalford - Dorking Pits - Boxhill - Titsey - Wrotham - Boxley - Canterbury.

Bound in brown hardboards with gilt lettering to front board and spine and black map illustration to top of front board. Front hinge is split, front joint is splitting, and spine is cracking. Bumped and chipped to tail of spine, and badly chipped to head of spine. Binding pulling and the plate facing page 200 is detached but still included. Slight foxing throughout. This book is in good overall condition. 296 pages. 23 x 15 cm.
