Pair of Steigel Style green bubble glass "Flip" glasses.

Flip was a drink which was a mixture of heated wine, sugar, egg and nutmeg that was mixed and poured back and forth between two glasses or jugs (ie "flipped").

"Steigel" refer to a glass maker called Henry Steigel living in Pennsylvania in the 18th century who made glass based on European designs, which gained popularity during the American Revolution. Most of Steigel's work was unmarked so the glasses are without attribution and referred to as “Stiegel type.”

These glasses are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. One has a snapped rough pontil, and one a polished pontil.  Unsure of origin or age but they probably date to the end of the 19th century. The glasses are thicker than a traditional "Steigel glass". They are very bubbled and both have an etched boat on one side, and etching around the rims.

When a UV torch is shone onto them there is evidence of uranium within the glass as Gary both have a faint glow, particularly at the base.
