The backstory on this piece is that there was a small article from House of Representative Julius Hawley Seeley that was attached to the inside of this lap desk. It had come off, but has been kept preserved with this piece so will come with it along with some information on Julius Hawley Seeley. So there's a very good possibility that this had belonged to him in the late 1800's. A very unique piece none the less. Does show some wear for its age such as small cracks in the lacquer, some marks, and there looks to have been some minor repairs done. Measures 17.5"x 10"x 6".
