This is a nice, carved example of the Anima Sola or "lonely soul". She is not a saint but rather represents souls in purgatory who require assistance from the living and the divine to ameliorate their suffering in the afterlife. This was a popular image in Mexico and other Latin American countries. This piece was purchased from a woman who had been collecting Mexican folk art for over 60 years. While my knowledge is limited, I place this piece in the mid 19th century. This carving is in good condition relative to it's age. In total, it measures 6.75" high with the base measuring 3"x2.5". There is darkening of paint along with areas where paint has chipped off. Take a good look at the photos as these are part of the description.

Thank you for looking.
