Beautiful "Matthew Turnbull" Victorian engraved pressed glass Celery Vase.

The thumbprint design (Rd.219638) was registered by Turnbull on the 4th of October 1893 and they were made at the Cornhill glassworks in Sunderland.

The pattern was also used on plates, salts and jugs. Unusually, the blank panels have been engraved with ferns and grasses which adds to the lovliness.

Most likely made by Turnbull, but unsigned (as they all were). Dates to around 1893.

Some bubbles in the glass which woukd have been formed at the point of manufacture, but apart from these it is on excellent undamaged condition.
