Jaguar XJS 6.0 litre V12 Convertible UK registered in 1994 in beautiful Arctic Blue - Ultra rare facelift specification being a genuine 2 seater with rare original period grey trim.

From any records I can find or anecdotal evidence it seems that only approx 49 examples of the 6.0litre convertibles were registered in the UK in the mid 90’s. Of these I can only find reference to 9 being a true 2 seater as this car is and with grey interior trim it may even be one of a kind? I know that most were preferred in the 2 + 2 seat configuration and cream/beige was the seemingly default trim colour but the combination of my vehicle configuration and colour coding makes it extremely rare.

This particular car began life in 1994 as a main dealer demonstrator and was then purchased in 1995 by its first private owner who had it meticulously maintained throughout his ownership up until June 2018 when it was released (due to ill health apparently) and was acquired by specialists Just XJS of Derby who then refurbished the car to their very high standards. It was then purchased by me. A huge history file came with the car detailing servicing and repair bills (as well as a new gearbox) coming to a total of £37,064 over a 23 year period so a lot of evidence of no expense being spared. From what I can see 95% of the servicing and repairs have been carried out by main Jaguar Dealers, notably Marshalls of Cambridge and Dunhams of Luton. It is quite clear that the car has always been maintained regardless of cost with over 20 services recorded (averaging under 6,500 mile service intervals). A detailed list of all of the recorded services performed are shown on one of the images.

Needless to say the car is in beautiful condition for it’s age. The Arctic Blue metallic paintwork being complimented by the new (2022) mohair hood and original light grey interior. The 6.0 litre V12 fires up instantly and settles down into a smooth quiet tick over. It drives perfectly transmitting incredible torque and power through the 4 speed auto box. On the road the drive is effortless and without drama. Kick-down, air conditioning, cruise control, sport mode, remote central locking, trip computer, original radio and multi disc CD player all function as they should. Roof operation is trouble free. A new radiator was fitted in 2018 and there have been no overheating issues during my ownership.

The car will have had a new service at 129,000 miles (previous service at 127730 miles including all 12 plugs) and is MOT’d until 21st October 2024. It passed it’s last MOT with no advisories. As a 30 year old car with original elements of course it’s not perfect nor concourse so I’m sure you can find elements to fettle and improve. I believe I have factored all of this condition into my asking price so please make sure you are content with it’s general valuation before turning up to tyre kick, suck teeth and / or waste your own valuable time. I will be very happy to keep this car so please don’t think that an inappropriate offer will be considered.

The car has covered a healthy 129,000 miles and is driven every single month to a greater or lesser degree to keep everything working as it should. It was fully HPi tested prior to me purchasing the car. The only points raised in the HPi documentation were a mileage discrepancy between 2011/12. The mileage jumped from 115746 to 177924 within 12 months and then back down to 117955 three days later when it was re-tested after an MOT failure. It seems obvious that the MOT tester typed 177924 instead of 117924 during the initial MOT test.

Only known issues are a noisy pulley and fan belt which needs sorting on service. Apart from this there is an intermittent transmission light coming on at random intervals. Just stop the car and re-start and no transmission light? When illuminated the warning manifests as gear changes being more noticeable as it is not benefiting from gear change throttle feathering but otherwise no effect on performance through all four gears. I had the exact same issue with my previous 6.0litre XJS v12 and it was inexpensively fixed by David Marks in Nottinghamshire as part of work he did on that vehicle. It’s never bothered me enough to seek a correction this time around. Very small amount of bubbling in front of windscreen and a few other discreet areas as to be expected but in the main very tidy all around.

There is comprehensive service and repair work paperwork trail dating back to the nineties and all of the drivers handbooks and information supplements are present. Unfortunately the original service history book had been mislaid prior to my ownership but significant documentation is present that evidences the care and money lavished on this car over the years.

Car is expected to be present at the Bicester Heritage Scramble on “Drive It Day” on Sunday 21st April for anyone attending who may be interested. Or it can be viewed any time before or after at my home address at GL6 postcode. Please text message me if interested in viewing.
