This is a vintage Fenwick & Sailors (F&S) sterling silver comedy and tragedy tie clip or tie bar. The piece measures 2 3/4 inches long, by 3/4 of an inch, at it's widest point. The piece is signed F & S Handmade Sterling on the back.
Fenwick and Sailors was founded in Hollywood, California, just after World War II, by brothers, Bud and John Fenwick, with partner, Ovid Sailors. They produced a high quality line of men's sterling silver jewelry including cufflinks, tie bars, tie tacks, and key chains which were sold in upscale men's stores including the London Shop in Hollywood California and Alfred Dunhill of London.They closed in the late 70's when the business started to decline. It was known that Bob Hope gave Fenwick and Sailors jewelry to his friends on his tours overseas.
