A VERY COLOURFUL MINI-COLLECTION OF AUSTRALIAN (VICTORIAN) 'DULLBLUE & BROWNLAKE' - "POSTAGE DUES” - DENOMINATIONS THROUGH TO 1/- [THE SCARCE "DOUBLE 'V' OVER CROWN" ISSUE]
These very early POSTAGE DUES were issued in Melbourne from 1890 through to 1907 and incorporated 'the VICTORIAN DESIGN' (as opposed to the NSW/AUSTRALIA DESIGN of 1881(NSW) and 1902-1908(AUSTRALIA). From 1909, the then VICTORIAN DESIGN was adopted for all Australian Postage Due stamps by removing the word 'VICTORIA' and inserting 'AUSTRALIA' using a GREEN background and RED tablet. In 1938 the Victorian Plates were updated, and those Plate are referred to as the "REDRAWN PLATES". These 'RED&BLUE' 'DUES' are of the first Victorian issue and are now quite scarce...
