These 53 year old artist handmade bookends were purchased at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach California in 1971. The Bookends were made by Futuric Designs. Please see pictures for the label on the bottom of both Bookends.

The festival had only been operating for four years in 1971. The festival is still going today from June to August and they now have a winter festival.

This is the most clever use of broken red bricks I have ever seen.

The artist that made these bookends mentioned the bricks came from a historic building nearby that many people tried to save from being torn down. The building eventually was demolished. The artist thought he was doing the right thing by helping the building "live on" by giving the bricks a new life and purpose.

The bricks are 8 inches high, 4 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches thick. The bookend with the Statue weighs 5 pounds 7 oz.  The brick with the picture of early.Venice weighs 5 pounds 4 oz.

Due to the weight of the bricks the least expensive way to ship them to you is with a Priority Flat Rate Medium box.
