Here we have an incredible pair of antique French bronze urn lamps featuring highly detailed and chased seated angel cherubs and cornucopias on the covers, and accented with acanthus leaves. The main body sports a deeply sculpted freeze depicting a Bacchanalian scene featuring frolicking cherubs and Satyrs on a stippled ground and accented by gadrooning, stylized egg and dart molding, and acanthus base, the whole resting on a square base with concave corners and further elevated on stepped variegated pink marble slabs. Each lamp is topped by replacement harp playing angles. Dark chocolate patina with verde gris highlights. These lamps were once a pair of covered urns, and were converted to electric in the 1920's. Excellent condition! One piece of marble has been repaired near the front right corner as seen in the pictures. Brand new wiring and in excellent working order. Each lamp measures 31" to the top of the finials. Bronze urns with marble bases measure 17-1/4" tall x 6-5/8" square at the marble bases. The urns date from the 1850's. New green felt bottoms.
