SAN ANTONIO MADE 18 POUNDER CANNON GRAPE SHOT BALL,THE ALAMO,1836, TEXAS MUSEUM

This very crude (& unfinished as the mold seam or the pouring ring was not ground off) Texan 18 pounder cannon grape shot ball is one of several that was cast in San Antonio, Texas for Colonel William Travis' famous 18 pounder cannon.                                                                                                                                                                                It was found in the rubble of the wall where the 18 pounder cannon was mounted in the Alamo by Sergeant Edward Bothwell of the Alamo guards Battery in 1860.                                                                                                                    This grape shot ball is about 2" diameter with light pitting, has a mold seam, pouring ring & a brown patina.                  They were bought by James Andrews who had them on display in the Brownsville (private) United Confederate & Texas History Museum                                                                                                                                                       It comes with a certificate of authenticity & a detailed Andrews Collection letter from the great grandson of James Andrews.
