1933 CHICAGO WORLDS FAIR CENTURY OF PROGRESS ART DECO STYLE POTTERY BEER STEIN WITH NUDE

This pottery beer stein was part of our huge Worlds Fair and Exposition Collection. We mostly collected 1933/34 and 1939/40 items but also have many pieces from much earlier to much later Fairs. We offered the entire collection as a buy it now on eBay with no takers and have since been piecing it out. My husband, seller named Jal12147 and I will be listing pieces till it’s all sold.

This sculpted art pottery beer stein features the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair, Century of Progress. This mug is in very good condition. With the exception of a small glaze chip on the chin of the female figure forming the handle. There are a few unglazed spots on the bottom of the mug and some slight glaze chipping also on the bottom. This is something that occurs often during the firing process, when the item wasn’t glazed properly. These were made right at the fair and needed to get done quickly.

This beer mug or stein is very much in the Art Deco style, as you can see. The handle is an actual nude female figure. The mug is sculpted to honor the 1933 Worlds Fair. It stands 6-1/2” high. The mouth is 3” across and the base is 3-1/2” across. The color is a beautiful medium green. One side reads “Worlds Fair 1933 Chicago “ and the other reads “Century of Progress”.
