We are selling this rare and vintage SG-style electric guitar by Orfeo / Teisco, made in Japan in the early 1960s! The inscription on the head says "Orfeo", but it was made in a Teisco factory.
This model is quite rare, and in addition, it comes in a red sunburst finish with a white pickguard. That combination is not present anywhere on the internet.
Real vintage gem: grab a bargain!
Conditions:
This is a cool vintage guitar but it comes in poor cosmetical conditions, full of scratches and nicks. It was built during the golden age of the Japanese company.
The electrical system works well: the 2 pickups, 2 switch and all knobs work. The guitar sounds good, the pickups have a surprisingly meaty sound. The action is comfortable. The electrics work fine, delivering a very rich and warm, yet clear tone from the 2 pickups. They sound very loud, but clear and brilliant, ideal for twang and surf sounds, but also funk, blues or rock.
The 2 pickups are awesome and the real reason why so many guys are looking for these guitars! They are crips, transparent and simply awesome. Numerous sounds are possible.
IMPORTANT: As you can see from the photos, there are several signs of the times. Under the bridge a blue electric cable emerges (we don't know from where!) and on the nut (in the G string) a small removable "layer" has been inserted which keeps the G string higher. These are all things that were done by the previous owners! There is also a sticker of the English flag on the back. Apart from these aesthetic oddities, the guitar still works well. Please, check all the photos!
It can therefore be a real deal for those who intend to bring it back to its full capacity!
