These Chinese export tea caddy boxes come from an era where tea was rare in the west, and expensive like caviar.

It was kept by the upper class in boxes like this under lock and key to prevent servants from stealing it.

The Chinese created these boxes for Victorian taste, ornately shaped and heavily decorated.

This tea caddy box is complete, with all its four feet and pewter containers in excellent condition.

There is the usual wear to the artwork in places.

These come in large and small size. This is a large one with a satisfying weight to it.

If the artwork was perfect you would expect to pay 1200 for this, so priced fairly.

A wonderful piece of Victorian grandeur.

Offers welcome if you wish.
