launched her own successful design label in 1982 but was forced to close in
1995 for health reasons. Thus, the rare Jacqueline de Ribes label, like the
luxurious ensemble offered here, is a prestigious pedigree.
This splendid Jacqueline de Ribes evening suit comprises
a black velvet jacket and skirt embroidered with gold metallic swirls, and a green sleeveless shell that
matches the jacket's lapels. The jacket has a single button closure at the waist, two patch pockets, and black velvet trim around the lapels, pockets, cuffs, and hemline.The blouse is a sour apple green, double-faced silk charmeuse
that closes with six back buttons hidden by a placket with a single
self-covered button visible at the top. No
fabric labels are present, but the velvet looks and feels like rayon or a silk
and rayon blend. The blouse, lapels, and black linings are silk charmeuse. The
jacket and skirt are labeled French size 42 which is considered equivalent to
US size 10. Note that the shell is a larger size than the suit. Please refer

JACKET MEASUREMENTS - Shoulder width is 16.5" plus about one more inch of padding outside the shoulder seam on each side. - Underarm chest measurment is 40" - Waist is 36" - Sleeve length is 22.5 from edge of padding to cuff or 23.5" from shoulder seam to cuff. - Length is about 27" down center back. SKIRT MEASUREMENTS - Waist is 31" - Hips measure 38" at about 9" below top of waistband. - Length is 24" BLOUSE MEASUREMENTS - Underarm chest measurement is 49" - Length is 24.75" down center back. CONDITION Jacket and skirt are without any notable condition issues. The blouse has a few thread pulls at the waist, presumably caused by the gold metallic thread on the inside of the waistband rubbing on the blouse when it was tucked in. The pulls are not conspicuous, and they would not be noticeable regardless of whether the jacket was being worn.
