Major General of the Suite (28.3.71), Adjutant General (19.2.80), Lieutenant General (30.8.81), Infantry General (6.12.95), commander of the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment (1870-76), commanded 1st Brigade of the 1st Guards Division “Petrovskaya Brigade” (1876-80), “the zealous prince tried in vain to eradicate” homosexuality in military life, commander of the Guards Corps (1885-89); Chairman of the Anti-Plague Commission (1897), organizer and trustee of the Institute of Experimental Medicine (1900-04), creator of the Abkhaz resort of Gagra (9.1.1903), Supreme Chief of the sanitary and evacuation unit (1916-17)

Granted diamond-decorated connected portraits of Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II for wearing on St. Andrew's ribbon (12/25/1916). This award is visible in the photo - on the right side of the chest
