Excellent vintage condition.  Minimal surface wear, some patina on shank, which is typical for older white gold. Stone has natural striations and color variation; the 6-ray asterism becomes more or less visible and pronounced depending on lighting conditions (note pictures taken under overhead and indirect light). Stone measures 14.19mm by 11.8mm, which translates roughly to at least 8 carats. Stone tested as corundum (sapphire/ruby) on a Presidium II gem tester.

Inner shank contains European style gold purity mark for 10K gold.  There is also a maker's mark inside a rectangle cartouche, but it is not easy to make out.  The stone is mounted upon a raised fancy setting that is mixed polished and crosshatch textured, with etched floral motifs.

One of the larger star sapphire ladies' rings on the vintage fine jewelry market.
