A suzani is a hand-embroidered textile panel; the word comes from the Persian word suzan, which means needle. To speak to it's authencity, the ladies crafting these suzanis have left uneven finished edges (see photos). Unlike machine made embroideries, this one is hand made and so has minor embroidery flaws that come as part of the finished piece. These pieces look like a work of art. Originating from nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, suzanis have become highly collectable and valued for their beautiful decoration and fine craftsmanship. Size is 20" x 42". Cream background cotton fabric with multicolored silk thread embroidery. Hand made piece, originates from Bukhara region, Uzbekistan.

Please note that this is a textile that is hand embroiderd and is not a commercialy made piece. The edges are not perfectly finished and there may be minor pulls from the embroidery stitching. These suzanis are made informally in local villages and as such do not have any tags attached but are new. Any questions? Please ask before purchase. Thank You!
