This is from my father's ( Robert J Bass) world class collection of bronzes sculptures ceramics and coins.

His previous collections were sold at auction at Sotheby in New York.

He was a cigar enthusiast and this antique animated cigar cutter made him laugh.

It features a long necked gentleman wearing a hat , with trousers down, ( his behind is revealed ) sitting atop a chamber pot. Ostensibly, when a cigar is placed in the opening at the waist, and once the hat is pressed down, the cigar cut piece ends up in the pot.

This is very old, I don't know if it could actually cut a cigar. It is whimsical and delightful.

It measures 4.75" x 2.5" x 3" and weighs 1.01 #

Similar pieces at auction have gone for between $400 and $600
