Vintage horse brass medallion decorated with a swan.
These brass medals were attached to wide leather and used to embellish a horse's tack.
When the horse trotted they would ring out like bells.
They were especially popular during the age of draught horses who did the work trucks do today.
Most of these originate in England but the brass may have been produced in India.
This has an image of a swan. The swan represents grace, purity and transformation.
Often times these decorations were used to represent the values of the farm or business.
This medallion measures about 3" x 3". It is made from brass and is in good vintage condition.
It is still quite shiny. It comes fresh from a farm estate on Cape Cod, Mass.
