Here we have a stunning mocha decorated pitcher
dating to circa 1780. The pitcher is
finely molded and decorated with a double engine turned black and white
checkerboard patterns, engine turned wide vertical ribs and blue glaze
bands. The pitcher has a finely
detailed applied handle with foliate leaf terminals. The pitcher measures 6 ½” in height by 3 ½”
across the base and 2 ½”in diameter across the rim. The pitcher is in original mint condition
with no damage or repairs. This survives for 240 years having
been cherished and cared for by collectors who have appreciated the importance
of this beautiful and desirable piece of mocha decorated pottery. This is a very desirable piece
of mocha decorated pearlware that would enhance and be highly prized in any
collection.
