I have here for sale TWO VOLUMES of a book entitled TRADITIONS, LEGENDS, SUPERSTITIONS, AND SKETCHES OF DEVONSHIRE On the Borders of The Tamar and the Tavy, illustrative of its Manners, Customs, History, Antiquities, Scenery, and Natural History, in a Series of Letters to Robert Southay, Esq. by MRS BRAY In Three Volumes - VOLS II & III published by John Murray, London, in 1838.  First edition.  Anna Eliza Bray was an English historical novelist who also wrote several non-fiction works, such as this one, based on the traditions, legends and superstitions that surround the town of Tavistock, where the author lived for a time.  Volume II includes Letters XII-XXXI written between 1832 and 1833.  Volume III includes Letters XXXII-XLII written between 1833 and 1835.  

Olive green cloth boards with a blind stamped decorative design and gilt lettering on the spine.  Minor marks and wear to the boards with minor tears to the top and bottom of the spines.  Foxing to pages.  Rear hinge of Vol II cracked.  All pages are firm and the books are in very good condition.  Volume II: 356 pages, plus publisher's catalogue 4 pages.  Volume III: 373 pages.  20.5 x 13 cm.
