Hey, this is a real strange one. I know it's African but I've never seen anything like it in museums, books or in my many years of collecting, buying and selling African masks. It is a cyclopse! It has two pairs of "Shrek" ears, though the ones on top may be something different (antennas? horns?). It has one square eye and a rectangular mouth opening! It also has a lot of large attachment holes. The finish is a true oxblood color which makes sense since shoe polish was sometimes used and it buffs up nicely. This has got to be a very rare item. I have shown it to several African art scholars and not one has a clue. It is unknown and only 8" tall. Because of its uniqueness I am pricing it strong but feel free to make a reasonable offer. U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
