Attractive Art Deco (circa 1920) cold painted bronze statue of a jester by French sculptor, Georges Ormerth.

The figure, finely modelled as a jester & wearing a jester's hat (motley) and costume, a lute strapped to his back. Has been cold painted with bronzed & gilt patination, the figure is raised on a circular stepped black marble plinth.

Weight: 1.765 kg. Height: 220 mm. Diameter of base of plinth: 125 mm. Piece unsigned which is typical of work by Georges Ormerth.

Georges Ormerth (fl 1895 - 1925): French artist known for his Art Nouveau & Art Deco bronze figures, animalier & statue sculpture.

NOTE: While researching the artist I discovered a similar statue of a jester by Georges Ormerth for sale by Bloomsbury Fine Art & Antiques. Admittedly in better condition than my example with left index finger & original strap to lute intact, the jester is priced at $2,695 (if you google "Georges Ormerth Jester Bloomsbury" you should be able to find it.

Summary: As can be seen from the photos this is a very decorative item despite the condition issues I have highlighted. Good luck!
