Obverse: in the middle is the Small State Emblem of the Russian Empire, below it along the edge of the coin is the denomination “5 RUBLES” and the year of issue of the coin “1898.”

Reverse: on the left along the edge of the coin there is the inscription “B.M. NICHOLAS II EMPEROR”, on the right along the edge of the coin there is the inscription “AND AUTOCRAT OF ALL RUSSIAN”, in the middle there is the head of the Emperor of the Russian Empire Nicholas II facing left.
