VINTAGE  marbled brown BUTTONS

These distinctive lightweight buttons are swirled in shades from cream to mid brown, each pretty much unique as the marbling varies slightly from button to button whilethe colours remain the same.  They are slim buttons with a glossy finish,  a raised rim & slightly rounded face.  The backs are flat & they are 4-hole sew-through.  Although light in weight they are not fragile.

These are authentic early to mid 20th century buttons & add originality & style to modern clothing.  The manufacturing method involved inserting different coloured rods of material into the base colour & from this button blanks were sliced – fine grooving can be seen on the reverse.   This resulted in a pleasing individuality resulting from the position of shades in the roll.    Subsequent treatment involved impressing the surface design.  These buttons appear to be a form of casein, a milk protein much used in early plastics under various proprietary names, including Galalith & Erinoid.   They are gently washable.

The buttons are gently washable & have been packed carefully for safety in transit.

UK carriage is shown & will be combined whenever possible.
