Lattice openwork styles of tramp art frames from Eastern Europe predominate. This one is no exception. My description relies heavily on the photographs of it. There are recessed brick red painted panels surrounded by lengths of notched wood in the tramp art style, possibly with a vestige of gold highlighting. Many European tramp art items use panels of velvet covering so the paint may be an old refinish. The history of finishes can be seen on its back. The family portrait - Father, Mother and Son - are dressed in traditional "folk" garb. This frame presents as very old and rustic. It is 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" with an opening about 5" x 3". U.S. buyers please. [Boston Primitive]
