interesting & collectable 9ct gold & enamel fob medal relating to the heavy industrial firm of Dorman Long, Middlesbrough & hallmarked Birmingham 1935 by Fattorini & Sons.

The front of the medal depicts an image of a rescue operation with four stretcher bearers carrying a victim on a stretcher. Around the edge, picked out in dark blue enamel is embossed:

"DORMAN LONG & Co. LTD. DIRECTORS AMBULANCE SHIELD"

The obverse is not engraved.

Weight: 10.6 gm. Diameter: 29 mm. Hall Mark: Birmingham 1935. Maker's Mark: Fattorini & Sons.

Dorman Long: Was a UK steel produced which later diversified into bridge building. The company was founded in Middlesbrough in 1875 and in 1961 was nationalised & subsumed into the British Steel Corporation.

Summary: As can be seen from the photos this is a very collectable safety rescue medal connected to heavy industry in Middlesbrough with similar medals also commonly awarded in connection with the mining industry. I am happy to start the listing at just £185 which is well below the current 9ct gold scrap price. Good luck!
