I have here for sale a TWO VOLUME SET of books entitled MEMORIALS OF ST JAMES'S PALACE by EDGAR SHEPPARD In Two Volumes VOLS I & II published by Longmans, Green, and Co., London and New York, in 1894.  First edition.  Here we have a comprehensive account of The Royal Palace of St James's, one of London's most well-known royal buildings.  Volume I traces the history of the palace, and Volume II has chapters on births, baptisms, marriages and deaths in the Palace; and chapters on the Chapel Royal.  Both volumes contain 4 tissue-guarded b/w plates engraved by Messrs. Walker and Boutall; whilst Volume I has 27 full-page b/w plates, one of which is fold-out, and 19 in-text illustrations; and Volume II has 6 full-page b/w plates and 17 in-text illustrations.  

Dark blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and gilt decoration on the front board and gilt lettering on the spine.  Minor marks on the boards with wear to the corners, and bumping to the top and bottom of the spines.  Gilt page top edge.  Library subscription label on the front endpaper of Volume I, and name of previous owner on the prelim of Volume II.  Light foxing up to the title pages, and to pages of Index of Volume II.  All pages are firm and the books are in very good condition.  Vol I: xx, 433 pages.  Vol II: viii, 419 pages.  23 x 15.5 cm.
