I have here for sale a genuine first edition of a SHERLOCK HOLMES story. This is The Strand Magazine for August 1904, Issue 164, Volume 28, and it contains the first ever publication worldwide of THE RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter. There are illustrations by Sidney Paget, as usual. The story covers pages 123 to 135, plus an unnumbered plate at the start. In addition there are six artistic illustrations in the text.

The issue for sale here has no front cover, but it does have its rear cover. Also it does has advert pages i-lvi, pages of text 123-240, followed by adverts lvii-lxiv. The photograph shows the front cover of the March 1904 issue of The Strand which does have its front cover - this is for illustration purposes only. If you want an electronic copy of this front cover, I shall gladly give it to you, so that you can prepare your own facsimile cover of a near contemporary Strand cover, but it would, obviously, be for the March issue not this August issue.

Pages stapled as issued, and both staples firmly attached with no pages loose. 25 cm x 17 cm.
