I have here for sale a book entitled BELLEROPHON: THE BRAVEST OF THE BRAVE, by Edward Fraser (author of Famous Fighters of the Fleet, The Enemy at Trafalgar, Champions of the Fleet etc), and published by Wells, Gardner, Darton and Co. Ltd. in London in 1909. Illustrated throughout in black and white including a frontispiece with tissue guard, entitled Napoleon on board the Bellerophon. Includes and index. 

HMS Bellerophon, known to sailors as the "Billy Ruffian", was a ship of the line of the Royal Navy. A third-rate of 74 guns, she was launched in 1786. Bellerophon served during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, mostly on blockades or convoy escort duties. She fought in three fleet actions: the Glorious First of June (1794), the Battle of the Nile (1798) and the Battle of Trafalgar (1805).

Dark green cloth hardboards with stunning gilt and colour ship and wreath design to front board and spine. Gilt lettering to front board and to spine also. Publisher's blind stamp to back board. Minor rubbing to head and tail, and corners. Pull to binding at 193, otherwise generally tight. Some offsetting to front free endpaper. Pages generally clean. Rough cut page edges. Very good condition. 356 pages. 21 cm x 15.5 cm.
