Oscar Wilde
Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Co Ltd, London, undated [c1910]
Hardback, gilt titling to spine. 17 x 10.5cm, 251pp + ads. Stated on title page as being sold at Ye Old Paris Booke Shoppe, Paris, and dated from bibliography to rear.
Wilde's only novel, first published in 1890, is a brilliantly designed puzzle, intended to tease conventional minds with its exploration of the myriad interrelationships between art, life, and consequence.
A good reading copy. The title page and first few pages of text are heavily foxed, lessening as you go through the book. Page edges and margins tanned and foxed. Corners a little bumped but the whole remaining in good, readable condition.
