This is a World War I Swiss M1918/63 helmet, also known as the 'Coal Scuttle' due to its unique shape. It comes with a pair of time-accurate goggles, making it the perfect addition to any militaria collection. The helmet is an original piece from the period, and was manufactured in Switzerland.

The texture of the helmet (done originally with no restoration work) was done via matte black paint mixed with sawdust, to create a grippier and less-easily-scratched finish for camouflage to be post-factory applied.

EVERYTHING IN THIS HELMET AND ON THIS HELMET IS ORIGINAL, including the goggles and all parts of the goggles!

The liner is high quality leather for its time, and damn near haunting. Visible that it’s been used and is old, but is in the utmost shape that old leather *can* be in.

Goggles included are European (possibly German or Swiss in production) aviation / motorcycle goggles, collected from an antique shop. As such, the lenses are a slight difficult to see out of due to their tint. I do not personally recommend wearing these goggles (although the helmet is 100% safe and okay) due to the potentially fragile nature of them, as I’ve already unfortunately had the cord break, as visible in photos. While I have not searched for the strand it uses, I’m certain it could be easily replaced.

The helmet has been well-preserved and is in excellent condition, with no dents. Its unique design and historical significance make it a highly sought-after item by collectors. This piece is perfect for anyone interested in World War I memorabilia, and is sure to make a great addition to any collection.
