Allow me to introduce you to 'Lady Ophelia'! She is a lovely, Victorian-era miniature dollhouse character doll. She was made from an original, one-of-a-kind, vintage clay sculpt by the talented miniaturist, Marcia Backstrom. She has been wigged, painted and dressed by the international doll artist, and my personal friend, Dana Burton, as an exclusive and unique dollhouse character doll for Madam Magpie Dolls. We purchased Marcia Backstrom's studio from her mother. Marcia left behind a collection of her original sculpts and it is our endeavor to bring them all to life over the coming years. With the aid of talented doll artisans and our in-house talent, we are honored to take the helm.
Ophelia Featherstone, with hair the color of spun sunlight and eyes as blue as a summer sky after a downpour. She is trapped in a world of propriety. Born into an aristocratic family, her life has been a carefully cultivated garden of etiquette lessons, embroidery samplers and endless cups of tea. Yet, Ophelia years for adventure like a rose yearning for the sun. Her solace comes in the words of her beloved books, which she steals away in the attic or under her favorite tree. She devours her novels, filled with daring heroines and fantastical worlds. One day, she just might run away and write her own story, if only she can summon the courage! She is posed in a permanent seated position, with her legs fully extended in front of her. She can sit on the floor, on a bed, or in the grass.
