Relisted due to some idiot randomly deciding to buy the WMIK at 1am then instantly cancelling the sale loosing me over 280 watchers on the "old" listing.

For sale GENIUNE Ricardo WMIK – believed to be one of under 5 known examples in private hands from the original (O-WMIK) batch of approx 200no FFR Wolf’s converted and produced by Ricardo’s for the MoD in 1999. Full documented military history including written confirmation and further clarification of asset code changes from an FFR Wolf to an O-WMIK by the MoD is included.

Unlike the later (and taller)  R+ WMIK’s currently being sold off by the MoD , this variant of WMIK due to its low slung roll cage fits inside a standard single garage.

My WMIK (HS77AA) nicknamed “Little Boy” has served and seen action in Bosnia, IRAQ and potentially Afghan and has served with both 1RGR and 2RGR regiments of the Royal Gurkas, Para’s in Bosnia (have grainy photo evidence taken from a YouTube ITN news clip), CSSTAT – Combat Service Support Training Advisory Team, BCBG(S) Basra South Battle Group in Iraq, 5 Scots and then finally the Royal Monmothshire Royal Engineers – RMON RE.

Was damaged in service by the 5 Scots around 2010 and converted back to a standard FFR GS soft top Wolf in 2012 at DSG Colchester before later being cast and sold via Withams.

I bought the Wolf in late 2015 still in soft top spec but the evidence of its previous conversion into a WMIK was clearly visible from the genuine Ricardo build plate on the seat box, the double outriggers (unique to WMIK’s) the extra fixings in the rear tub floor, various body staples, rivnuts etc dotted around the vehicle where the WMIK installation had taken place.  These all tie in 100% with the written confirmation I have from the MoD that this was one of the original WMIK’s.

I started about a full restoration of the vehicle which included a full strip down, full respray of both the vehicle and the relevant WMIK upgrades. Every staple, bracket etc was removed, repainted and then refitted. I have a large full folder of photos to document all the stages of this project from the strip down, painting through to installing all the items which will be provided to the new owner along with a USB stick containing all the photos etc.

A full and genuine WMIK installation kit was then added to the vehicle to return him back to his former fighting vehicle glory.

“Little Boy” is modelled at the cross over period between the E and R WMIK variants and has benefited from various military contractor support in this project including Ricardo’s themselves who also gave me their permission to use the Ricardo logo in conjunction with the vehicle. It has a complete set of extremely rare internal and external Jankel armour carriers / V Hull replica belly armour / replica ECM install in the rear tub / replica E-WMIK racking plates and top shield covers, Front and rear IR lights (not wired up) I have also installed the correct era gun ring cranking handle, upgrades and adjustable gunner’s seat. The gun ring operates fully either manually or using the cranking handle.

Little Boy proudly won best in show at Capel Military Show in 2018 and featured in a Land Rover magazine alongside a chinook taken at RAF Odiham in 2018.

The WMIK has always been garage kept and has been dry stored since COVID (covered only approx 24 miles since March 2020 due to lack of use) , Little Boy has recently been fully serviced and has MoT till August 2024.

Vehicle will be sold as per the photos to include the following items:

(I also have other WMIK related items I am happy to negotiate on.)

In 2018 I had an written independent valuation for insurance purposes agreed with Adrian Flux for £60,000. Both the valuation company and the insurer felt this value reflected not only the rarity, providence of this vehicle but also the high level of restoration and overall project from a replacement insurance perspective.

I am looking for serious offers in the region of £40,000.

Any inspection welcome and happy to discuss any aspect of the vehicle and its history and restoration - Securing deposit then balance paid via bank transfer face to face on the day of collection. Since i placed the WMIK up for sale I have been offered several part exchange vehicles which sadly i am not in a position to accept. The price is negotiable to a degree but i am avoiding silly offers so please serious interest only as i've had my fair share of tyre kickers.

Happy to send photos of any aspect of the restoration, its WMIK status and the rebuild.

Vehicle is located near Maidstone, Kent. My mobile is 079 56 144 484

Vehicle is also advertised on fb groups and mil web.

(Please bear in mind that I am not out of love with the WMIK or the hobby, just my life has changed direction since COVID. I am sentimental over this vehicle having been so lucky to find it in the first place, had amazing support over the years from some great friends and also the rare support from the various military contractors to help to secure items and advice to aid restoring this rare vehicle to this level hence not wanting to part with it for low offers.

It’s a project I truly loved undertaking and being totally honest I will miss not owning him and the attention he gets every time not to mention the unique smile that a WMIK brings. I know a part of me will regret letting this go and cannot be replaced due to its providence and the items on this truck but it’s time for a new owner to continue this project.

I am as keen to see the WMIK go to the right owner as much as I am to get the right price. I am not interested in tyre kickers or offer low ball prices as I don’t “need” to sell it unless it’s for the right price / right person. This is not a rushed distressed sale as it’s been on my mind for a year now – I could and can continue to own him and use him for a few shows each year moving forward but the truck deserves to be used and enjoyed more by the next owner then I can currently offer)
