Up for sale is an original Frederik de Witt map of Southern Italy. This is a large map Circa 1680. Note credit to de Witt and palms/ trees at bottom instead of the volcano which is present in later edition. This is circa 1680. Published in Amsterdam. Full title "Regnum Neapolis in quo funt Aprutium Ulterius et Citerius Comitatus Molisius, Terra Laboris, Capitaniata Principatus Ulterior et Citerior Terra Bariensis et Hidruntina Basilicata Calabria Citerior er Ulterior".
Famous map often reprinted through the 18th century. This is the version circa 1680 credited to Frederik de Witt. Palm trees at bottom. Very large. Approximately 21 x 26 inches including boarders. Antique coloring. Great original map in a very early and possibly first state.
Overall in VG condition. Wear and some light browning / foxing. Dings around boarder area. May have been previously framed. Coloring has bled through back. Other small dings here and there. Great piece.
