Queen Mothers play a huge role in an Oba’s (King) life. Heads of the Queen Mother are casted to honor her. Every home has a Queen Mother head to represent the strong female in daily life.
Beautifully made, with plenty of details, tribal figurations and attributes on the hat and rings around the neck, scarifications in the face. It has a beautiful brown patina.
This statue is of high quality and was made with the - cire perdue technique- , and is therefore unique in it's kind. Beautifully finished off in detail.
