Self-winding automatic movement with quick-set date (Pull crown all the way out and push back in to advance the date. This watch does have a two-piece stem so if the crown is pulled too hard it will separate from stem but can be pushed back in to place)

Original semi-pie-pan silver dial with Arabic numerals.
Retirement watch from The Detroit News, caseback engraved. Engraving is light enough that it can be polished out. We thought it was pretty neat to come from one of our nation's longest running newspapers and not some now-defunct corporation so we left the engraving in place.
