4-track or 2-track Reproduction (playback) Head height adjustment.

Reference Fluxivity: 250 nWb/m at 1000 Hz, NAB Equalization

Record Level: 0 dBr at 15 ips, -10 dBr at 7-1/2 and 3-3/4 ips.

Please specify tape Speed and Playback Head configuration.

Duration of each tape is about 8 min.


Tone 1. Level 1 kHz at 250 nWb/m Reference Fluxivity. 0 dB, 30 sec.

Adjust playback gain controls to obtain EQUAL 1 kHz output signals on both channels.

 

Tone 2. 1 kHz Head height alignment. +12 dB, 30 sec.

Set EQUAL MINIMUM 1 kHz output signals on both channels using the head height adjustment screws.


Tone 3. 15 kHz Azimuth alignment. -10 dB (0 dB for 15 i.p.s tape), 20 sec.

Set MAXIMUM level and EQUAL phases of the 15 kHz output signal on both channels using the Head Azimuth adjustment screw.

 

Tone 4. 1 kHz Head height alignment. +12 dB, 30 sec.

Set EQUAL MINIMUM 1 kHz output signals on both channels using the head height adjustment screws.


Tone 5. 15 kHz Azimuth alignment. -10 dB (0 dB for 15 i.p.s tape), 20 sec.

Set MAXIMUM level and EQUAL phases of the 15 kHz output signal on both channels using the Head Azimuth adjustment screw.

 

Azimuth must be readjusted every time, after you adjusted Head height.

So, 1 kHz Head height/15 kHz Azimuth sequence will continue till the end of the tape.
