Destination Tokyo: A Pictorial History of Doolittle's Tokyo Raid, April 18, 1942. With

This is about the April 1942 Doolittle Raid on Japan.  this was America's first strike against Japan after Pearl Harbor.  This was a major morale booster at home.  The air force trained a B-25 medium bomber group to take off from a short aircraft carrier deck.  The USS Hornet sailed towards Japan.  The idea was to launch the aircraft and they were to bomb various targets in Japan.  Then the crews were to fly to friendly ally China and land.    Unfortunately, the US ships were detected a few hundred miles from the safe launch point.  The crews launched anyway.  After the raid most of the crews made it to China.  Several crashed.  Several crews were captured.  Some crews were executed.
