This is a beautiful antique ink pen called "The Swan" made by a company called Mabie Todd and Bard  in New York. I know very little about pens but I bought it when I was a student in Oxford England in 1972. I purchased it at an Oxfam shop as a gift for a family member. My guess is that it is not pure gold but rather gold filled although a magnet IS NOT attracted to it. I cannot find an image of this pen on Google.

I spoke with a pen collector who said that it was before 1907 and that the nib was gold.

The pen is inscribed to a D.E. Alves at the bank of Australasia in London and that's about all I know.

Sorry about the dog in the photos but I wanted to get a good photo of the inscriptions and this was the best one.

If any of you have knowledge about this pen I would love to know.

Thanks
