I have here for sale a book entitled THE NECESSITY OF ATHEISM by PERCY BYSSHE SHELLEY A Reprint of the Original Edition Produced in 1811 Edited by Thomas J Wise and Percy Vaughan Issued for the Rationalist Press Association, Limited, by arrangement with the Shelley Society and published by Watts & Co., London, in 1906.  "The Necessity of Atheism" is an essay written by Shelley whilst he was a student at Oxford University, printed by Charles and William Phillips in 1911.  The authorities were so shocked by the contents of the essay they expelled Shelley from the university.  

Green card covers with fold over flaps and with black lettering on the front cover and spine.  Covers and spine detached with small parts at the top and bottom of the spine missing.  Gift inscription at the top of the title page.  Foxing to pages.  All pages are firm and the book is in good overall condition.  xxii, 13 pages.  19.5 x 13.5 cm.
