I have here for sale a TWO VOLUME SET of books entitled THE REAL SHELLEY New Views of the Poet's Life by JOHN CORDY JEAFFRESON In Two Volumes VOLS I & II published by Hurst and Blackett, Publishers, London, in 1885.  First edition.  Here we have a detailed biography of poet and writer Percy Bysshe Shelley, one of the major English Romantic Poets, whose extraordinary life included family crises, ill health, a backlash against his atheism, political views, defiance of social conventions, and self exile in Italy before a boating accident caused his death at the age of 29.  

Brown cloth boards with a blind stamped border design and gilt lettering on the spine.  A few minor marks on the boards with slight bumping to top and bottom of the spine.  Dark green endpapers with bookplate on Walter Sidney Scott on the front endpaper.  Browning/foxing to prelims and flyleaf, and to last few pages of Vol II.  Front hinge of Vol I partially cracked, but all pages in both volumes are firm and the books are in very good condition.  Vol I: xi, 435 pages.  Vol II: xiv, 478 pages.  23 x 15 cm.
